S130 Warning Lamp Information

The design of the various warning deviceson the instrument panel was improved in the 280ZX to enable the driver to monitor the conditions of the vehicle constantly and easily while driving. The digital-display inttegrated warning light system provides a constant check on washer fluid, radiator fluid, battery fluid (1979 only), head lamp failure, tail lamp failure, and stop lamp failure, with function checks carried out electroniclly. Whenever an abnormality develops, a red indicator is displayed to warn the driver.

Warning Display

The following chart will give you the meanings of each of the items on the display.

Display Reading Meaning
System Check Indicated
Indicates at least one Brake lamp is burnt out or disconnected. (Also will display if aditional lamps are in the circuit such as aftermarket High mount brake lights or trailer lighting)
Indicates at least one head lamp is burnt out or disconnected.
Indicates at least one tail lamp is burnt out or disconnected. (Also will display if aditional lamps are in the circuit such as trailer lighting)
Indicates Washer Fluid level is low. (If sensor is stuck clean tank with a calcium, lime, rust remover)
Indicates low battery electrolyte level. Add water to battery
Indicates low engine coolant level. Add coolant to correct. (If sensor is stuck clean tank with a calcium, lime, rust remover)
All systems are ok.
