Pillar Pod for your S130

As most of you know there is not much of an aftermarket for the S130 out there. So what do you do when you want to add that extra Gauge to monitor the vitals of the L28 under the hood? Below you will see how to modify your stock A pillar with a Universal gauge pod.

Items Needed

  • 1 Sunpro CP7547 Universal Gauge pod
  • 2 Rivits
  • Drill and bit
  • 80 Grit Sand paper
  • 120 Grit Sand paper
  • 220 grit sand paper
  • Bondo Fiberglass Reinforced Filler
  • Plasti-Kote Vinyl Color paint
  • Phillips Screw Driver

Process

The first thing you will notice with the Universal Gauge pod is it is much wider than the stock a pillar.

Then next thing you need to do is to trim the Pod down to make it fit the size of the A pillar. Using a few rivits attach it to the pillar.

Once you have the pod mounted test fit your gauge to see where you need to trim the pillar so the gauge fits and you can access the wiring of the gauge.

Now you need to rough up the pillar and the pod with 80 grit sandpaper so the Bondo Fiber Fill will have something to bond to. Add the Bondo Fiber Fill and let it cure. Once Cured Sand again with the 80 grit sand paper. Once smooth and shaped correctly sand again with the 110 and 220 grits till smooth.

Once it is Smooth use a tack cloth and clean off the pillar to get it ready for paint.

Using the Plasti-Kote Vinyl Color paint Paint the Pillar with a few light coats of paint.

Once the paint is dry it is time to install your gauge and install the A pillar again into your Z.
